ILLEGAL MIGRANTS ATTACK NYPD IN NYC: GOP Sen. demands DOJ & DHS response

Columbus, Ohio – Senate Judiciary ranking member Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., is seeking answers from the Department of Justice (DOJ) and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) regarding the handling of illegal migrants who recently attacked New York City police officers and were subsequently released without bail.

The incident occurred near Times Square, where a group of migrants launched a violent assault on multiple NYPD officers. In response, Graham penned a letter to Attorney General Merrick Garland and Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, questioning how their agencies plan to address the “brazen attack.” Graham specifically inquired about the potential deportation of the individuals responsible for the assault.

Furthermore, Mayorkas faces potential impeachment proceedings following the House Homeland Security Committee’s decision to advance a resolution for his impeachment. Meanwhile, the Justice Department confirmed receiving Graham’s letter but declined to provide any further comment, while the Department of Homeland Security has not yet responded to Fox News Digital’s request for a statement.

This comes after a pair of New York City police officers were attacked by at least seven illegal migrants near Times Square over the weekend. Shockingly, the suspects were subsequently released without bail. Surveillance footage captured the altercation, showing the officers attempting to subdue an individual on the ground before a scuffle ensues.

After being arrested, the suspects were seen kicking the officers and fleeing the scene before they were identified and charged with assault. However, they were ultimately released without bail, sparking outrage and raising concerns about the handling of such cases. Additionally, one of the suspects left police custody while giving news cameras an obscene gesture and a smirk, further fueling public frustration.

The Manhattan District Attorney’s Office confirmed that an investigation into the incident is currently ongoing, adding yet another layer of complexity to this troubling situation. These developments underscore the urgency for a comprehensive response from law enforcement and government agencies.
