Delivery Driver Fatally Shot in King County, Family Seeks Justice and Support

KING COUNTY, Wash. – Authorities in King County are actively searching for the individual responsible for the fatal shooting of a delivery driver in late January, leaving a grieving family to mourn the loss of their loved one. Sergey Kubay, a 50-year-old father, husband, and brother, was tragically shot and killed at Fairwood Pond Apartments in Renton while delivering packages.

According to the King County Sheriff’s Office, Kubay was targeted and fatally shot after an altercation while on the job as a delivery driver for Amazon. His body was discovered at 5 a.m. on Jan. 25, leaving his family shattered and grappling with the unexpected loss.

Kubay leaves behind a wife and two children, a 5-year-old daughter, and a 10-year-old son. His brother, Nikolay Kubay, expressed the family’s devastation, emphasizing the need to support Sergey’s grieving family. To help alleviate the financial burden, a GoFundMe page has been set up for Kubay’s family.

As part of a large, close-knit family, Kubay’s untimely death has sent shockwaves through his community, leaving loved ones grappling with their profound grief. Despite their anguish, the family is now facing additional challenges following their devastating loss. With the sudden and senseless loss of Sergey, his family is left to cope with the emotional and financial toll of his absence.

The tragedy has also shed light on the potential dangers faced by delivery drivers, rideshare drivers, and cab drivers. Additional measures may be necessary to ensure the safety and well-being of these essential workers, as state lawmakers are exploring potential legislation to expand death benefits for rideshare drivers.

As the investigation continues, authorities have not yet released any information about potential suspects. The family, along with the community, remains committed to seeking justice for Sergey Kubay and his grieving loved ones.
