Georgia Man Indicted for Interstate Domestic Violence and Stalking in Florida Crime Spree

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. – A tragic incident unfolded in Odessa, Florida, when a Georgia man, Timothy Crawford, traveled from Atlanta to a woman’s home and committed a series of violent acts. The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Florida has revealed that Crawford broke into the woman’s residence, armed with a pistol and a stun gun, before launching a brutal attack on her. The victim, who suffered severe injuries, managed to defend herself and escape, but tragically, her beloved Maltese dog was fatally shot by Crawford.

The disturbing events occurred on December 7 when Crawford, aged 52, traveled from Atlanta to confront the woman at her home on Carden Drive in Odessa. Crawford and the victim were acquainted, adding another layer of complexity to the situation. Following a violent altercation that left the woman with bruising, stun-gun burns, and broken bones, Crawford fled the scene. A concerned neighbor called 911 after hearing the victim’s screams, leading to Crawford’s eventual arrest by the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office when he returned to the home.

Upon searching Crawford’s truck, law enforcement officials discovered alcohol bottles and various weapons, underscoring the severity of the situation. Prosecutors have detailed Crawford’s admission to breaking into the woman’s home, using a taser on her, and intentionally killing her dog. Additionally, it was revealed that Crawford had conducted online searches regarding the potential legal consequences of killing a woman, indicating premeditation. Surveillance footage placed Crawford in Florida during specific hours, further supporting the case against him.

Crawford’s ex-wife also played a role in revealing his actions after the attack. He reportedly contacted her, confessing to the violent acts he had committed. This admission, coupled with recorded phone calls from the detention center, provided further damning evidence against Crawford. The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Florida has since charged Crawford with multiple offenses, including interstate domestic violence and the unlawful discharge of a firearm during a violent crime. If convicted, Crawford could face a minimum of 10 years in federal prison, highlighting the severity of his actions. The case serves as a stark reminder of the devastating consequences of domestic violence and the importance of swift justice in such cases.
