Virginia Man in Custody for Brutal Rapes of Two Women: Suspect Arrested Following Horrifying Attacks

Fairfax County, Virginia – A suspect has been apprehended by the Fairfax County Police Department for the “brutal and horrifying” rapes of two women in northern Virginia. The suspect, identified as Kevin Lopez-Altan, 24, from Annandale, was arrested in connection with an abduction and sexual assault case that took place at a business in Annandale, the police announced on Monday.

According to the authorities, Lopez-Altan is accused of sexually assaulting a 59-year-old woman at her own business in Annandale and a 20-year-old woman on the campus of Northern Virginia Community College. The incidents occurred on separate occasions and prompted a swift response from law enforcement officers.

On March 20, officers were called to a business in Annandale where an employee, who was an adult female, reported an attempted abduction and sexual assault by a Hispanic man in his 20s to 30s. Despite being denied entry into the business initially, the suspect persisted and eventually forced his way in, physically and sexually assaulting the victim before she managed to escape and summon help.

Detectives launched an investigation into the assaults, uncovering substantial evidence that led to Lopez-Altan’s arrest. It was later revealed that another sexual assault had been reported at Northern Virginia Community College, where the victim was able to fend off the attacker and escape.

During a press conference, Fairfax County Police Chief Kevin Davis expressed concern over the disturbing nature of the crimes and highlighted the vital role played by law enforcement in apprehending the suspect. Lopez-Altan, who has a criminal history, faces numerous felony charges, including rape, forcible sodomy, and abduction with intent to defile.

Describing Lopez-Altan as “evil personified” and emphasizing the severity of his actions, Chief Davis stressed the importance of bringing the suspect to justice to prevent further harm. The authorities urged anyone with information about the suspect or potential additional victims to come forward and assist in the investigation.

As the case unfolds, the police are exploring the possibility of other victims and seeking to ensure that justice is served in the wake of these appalling crimes. Lopez-Altan remains in custody without bond, and efforts to gather more information or evidence regarding the case are ongoing.
