Bolagarh, Khurda district, Odisha – A tragic incident unfolded in the village of Trutiyapada that left one person dead and another critically injured. The violence erupted between two individuals, resulting in a lethal attack that claimed the life of Pratap Kumar Sethi and left his son, Rasananda Sethi, fighting for survival.
The confrontation reportedly began with a heated argument over alleged caste-based remarks between Pratap and fellow villager Siddhant Behera. The situation escalated quickly, leading to an assault where Siddhant and an accomplice wielded a deadly weapon against the father and son. Tragically, Pratap succumbed to his injuries at the Bolagarh Community Health Centre, while Rasananda remains hospitalized in critical condition.
In response to the incident, Bolagarh police registered a case and launched an investigation after receiving a complaint from Pratap’s wife, Beenapani Sethi. Inspector Snigdhamayee Baral confirmed the details, citing caste-based slurs as the trigger for the attack. The police have taken steps to secure evidence, including conducting a post-mortem examination on Pratap’s body and ensuring Rasananda receives necessary medical treatment.
Khordha Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Nihar Ranjan Pradhan visited the Bolagarh police station to oversee the investigation. While the suspects fled the scene following the attack, authorities have detained members of Siddhant’s family for questioning. Efforts are underway to locate and apprehend the perpetrators as the investigation continues to uncover more details about the tragic event.
