Tragic: 3-Year-Old Fatally Shot in Santa Clara Home, Suspect in Custody for Murder

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – A tragic incident occurred in Santa Clara early Tuesday morning, as a three-year-old boy was fatally shot inside a residence. According to police, the victim was found dead when authorities responded to a call from the boy’s mother reporting that her live-in boyfriend had shot her son. The incident took place in the 3700 block of Poinciana Drive at around 2:25 a.m.

Upon arrival, law enforcement officers discovered the young victim and immediately performed CPR, but unfortunately, the child did not survive. The suspect, identified as 24-year-old Sergio Colin Gomez, was detained near the home and reportedly resisted arrest before being taken into custody. Police clarified that the suspect is not related to the victim, and they intend to book him into the Santa Clara County Main Jail for murder.
