Logan County, Ohio – Authorities in Central U.S. and Midwest regions have begun assessing the extensive damage caused by a series of tornadoes that tore through Ohio, Indiana, and Kentucky overnight. In Ohio, the Indian Lake and Orchard Island areas were particularly hard hit, with three fatalities reported, according to Logan County Sheriff Randy Dodds. Indiana also faced the wrath of the storm, with 38 individuals sustaining injuries and numerous homes and businesses decimated.
Reports indicate that Arkansas, Kentucky, Illinois, and Missouri were also affected by tornadoes, leading to damaged structures and minor injuries in some areas. The National Weather Service recorded over 670 reports of severe weather across 12 states, including multiple tornado warnings issued simultaneously. The storms were fueled by powerful weather systems that had earlier unleashed baseball-sized hail in the Plains and Midwest.

Blaine Schmitt, a resident of Indian Lake, described the chaos as resembling a freight train passing through his living room. Schmitt, along with his dog and friend, sought refuge in a bathtub as the tornado ravaged his home, leaving behind a trail of destruction.
In Indiana, Winchester Mayor Bob McCoy shared that 38 individuals were injured, with no reported fatalities, in suspected tornadoes that devastated the region. The mayor emphasized the importance of community support and expressed relief that the situation, although dire, was not as catastrophic as it could have been.
Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear reported damage to over 100 structures in Trimble and Gallatin counties, with only minor injuries reported from the tornadoes.
