Teacher Sustains Brain Injury After Student’s Attack At An Ohio High School

COLERAIN TOWNSHIP, Ohio — A 60-year-old teacher at Colerain High School underwent brain surgery after being punched by a 15-year-old student, causing a severe brain injury. The incident occurred in a Cincinnati suburb, where the student has been charged and is being held in juvenile detention. The student, who also attacked a fellow student, was reportedly under the influence of an unknown substance, leading to hallucinations. The teacher was transported to a local hospital and required major surgery to relieve brain swelling and prevent further damage.

Authorities responded to the assault at the high school campus, finding the student with a self-inflicted head wound. They concluded that the student was under the influence of an unknown substance and was hallucinating. Prior to the attack, the student had also injured another student by grabbing and pinching their neck. The teacher was taken for a medical evaluation, requiring surgery to address her severe brain injury.

The school district confirmed that the incident was isolated, and there is currently no threat to the school community. Charges of felonious assault were filed against the student, leading to their treatment at a hospital before being taken into custody.
