LIBERTY COUNTY, Texas — Authorities are searching for a 32-year-old man linked to a shooting that injured six people and resulted in two fatalities outside a local sports bar over the weekend. The suspect, Jose Osman Aguilar Cantillano, has been named by the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office in connection with the incident.
The tragic event took place early Sunday morning at Alas Locas Sports Bar on County Road 5018. Around 2:27 a.m., multiple gunshots rang out, striking patrons who were outside on the bar’s patio. Two individuals, 30-year-old Alexis Jasso and 43-year-old Fernando Navarette, succumbed to their injuries, with Jasso pronounced dead at the scene and Navarette later declared dead at a nearby hospital.
In the aftermath of the shooting, investigators executed a search warrant at Cantillano’s residence but were unable to locate him. Authorities noted he may be driving a white construction-style van, believed to be traveling toward either the New Orleans area or Atlanta, Georgia.
Of the injured victims, several have been treated and released from medical care. They include Sandra Patricia Valiz Adrian, 42; Aldegundo Alvarez Trujillo, 40; Jose Rafael Sanchez, 34; and a 35-year-old man known only by his surname, Gonzalez. Each sustained injuries ranging from gunshot wounds to their hands and legs, but all are expected to recover.
Cantillano’s wife, 23-year-old Alejandra Marie Valdez Montoya, has been arrested for allegedly tampering with evidence. She was apprehended when deputies returned to the couple’s residence later that day.
Witnesses reported at least 20 shots were fired from two different firearms during the incident, leading to chaos outside the bar. However, no injuries were reported for anyone inside the establishment at the time. The sheriff’s office stated that Cantillano had been at the bar for about an hour and a half before leaving, only to return after closing time and initiate the gunfire.
As the community grapples with the ramifications of this violent act, local law enforcement urges anyone with information regarding Cantillano’s whereabouts to come forward. Individuals can contact the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office at 936-336-4500 or submit anonymous tips through Crime Stoppers at 800-392-7867.
Investigators continue to piece together details surrounding the shooting, aiming to provide answers and justice for the victims and their families in the wake of such a traumatic event.
