Russian Diplomat Konstantin Alekseev Found Dead in Moscow Home in Latest Mysterious Death in Russia

MOSCOW, RUSSIA – The body of former Russian consul-general to Iran, Konstantin Alekseev, was found in his home in Moscow. His wife made the discovery, prompting an investigation into the cause of his death. Aged 63, Alekseev had served as a top diplomat in Iran for several years and had been based in Rasht for four years, a key hub for exports and imports between Iran and Russia.

Alekseev had also served at a senior level inside the Russian Foreign Ministry. His death comes amidst a spate of mysterious deaths of prominent people in Russia, including close associates of Vladimir Putin, during the ongoing war against Ukraine. Just over a week ago, Russian senator Vladimir Lebedev died suddenly at the age of 60, and Vladimir Nekrasov, chairman of the energy giant Lukoil board of directors, also died “suddenly” last month. Prior to their deaths, Lukoil tycoon Ravil Maganov and top manager Alexander Subbotin were also found dead in separate incidents.

In addition to the deaths of top Lukoil executives, several Russian generals have been killed since the beginning of the war, raising suspicions and sparking investigations. The cause of Alekseev’s death is now being established, as authorities continue to grapple with the mysterious deaths of several prominent figures in Russia.

Alekseev’s death is the latest in a string of mysterious deaths of prominent people in Russia. The Russian government has yet to make an official announcement or provide further details about the circumstances surrounding these deaths. As investigations continue, the unanswered questions surrounding these incidents add to the growing concern and speculation about the implications of these deaths.
