Reward: $10,000 offered in case of 22-year-old woman shot in South Los Angeles

Los Angeles, CA – The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department has offered a $10,000 reward for information leading to the apprehension of the perpetrator responsible for the shooting death of 22-year-old Raejonette Morgan in South Los Angeles.

Morgan was tragically killed last summer while driving her car near the intersection of Vermont Avenue and the 105 Freeway on-ramp. During the incident, cellphone footage captured the aftermath of the shooting, which left Morgan’s vehicle with the driver’s side window and door pierced by bullets.

Despite being alive and in need of help, Morgan did not receive immediate assistance when a sheriff’s deputy arrived at the scene. Tragically, Morgan passed away two days later on July 4th.

Following the incident, Morgan’s family met with Sheriff Robert Luna to discuss their concerns regarding the handling of the case. They raised questions about why the deputy failed to provide immediate aid to Morgan and highlighted the need for a thorough investigation into the matter.

The sheriff’s department defended the deputy’s actions by stating that there was uncertainty about whether the individual in the car was the assailant or a victim, prompting the deputy to call for backup before rendering assistance.

In a statement to the press, the victim’s mother expressed confidence in the sheriff’s department’s commitment to resolving the case, emphasizing the importance of finding justice for her daughter.

Individuals with any information related to the case are encouraged to contact the LASD’s Homicide Bureau at 323-890-5500 or reach out to Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-TIPS (8477) or submit a tip online through the Crime Stoppers website.
