TUCSON, Ariz. – A man who had been serving a 30-year prison sentence for shooting at passing cars along the Beeline Highway in 2016 has died in custody. The Arizona Department of Corrections Rehabilitation & Reentry confirmed that James Walker, 44, took his own life at the Arizona State Prison Complex in Tucson.
Walker, convicted of aggravated assault, armed robbery, and drug violations, was found unresponsive in his housing unit on March 02, 2024. Despite efforts from prison staff and paramedics, Walker was pronounced deceased at the scene.
It was reported that Walker had targeted several vehicles along State Route 87, resulting in damage to cars and injuries to a few individuals, although no fatalities were recorded from the shootings.
