Prison Deaths Probe Leads to Three Arrests in Bridgend

Bridgend, Wales: Three individuals have been taken into custody in connection with the deaths of multiple inmates at HMP Parc in Bridgend. The six prisoners passed away at the prison facility between February 27 and March 19, with four of the deaths suspected to be drug-related, while the other two are considered non-suspicious.

The South Wales Police disclosed that a 40-year-old man from Birmingham and a 34-year-old woman from Cardiff were arrested on charges of conspiracy to supply controlled substances and money laundering. Additionally, a 34-year-old man from Cardiff was also apprehended on suspicion of involvement in the distribution of controlled drugs.

Recently, during morning patrols on March 19, the inmate Cameron Anthony was found unresponsive by prison personnel at HMP Parc. Despite attempts by staff to revive him, Mr. Anthony could not be saved, and a post-mortem examination was inconclusive regarding the cause of his death. Assistant coroner Rachel Knight expressed concerns that Mr. Anthony’s passing may have been “unnatural,” prompting further investigation.

HMP Parc is categorized as a prison that houses convicted male adult and young offenders, as well as convicted and remanded sex offenders. Holding 1,612 inmates during a 2019 inspection, the facility is one of the largest prisons in the United Kingdom. The full inquest into the inmates’ deaths has been adjourned to a later date, awaiting further details to shed light on this tragic series of events.
