Plainfield Man Charged with Multiple Offenses After Violent Attack on Girlfriend in Illinois

PLAINFIELD, Ill. — A 52-year-old man from Plainfield, Illinois, is facing multiple charges following a violent attack against his girlfriend, according to the Joliet police. Jonah Madia has been charged with domestic battery, unlawful use of a weapon by a felon, possession of explosives, and other offenses.

The charges stem from an incident on Friday night at a home in the 6300 block of Clifton Court in Plainfield. Madia allegedly beat his girlfriend, threatened to shoot her, and discharged a firearm multiple times inside the residence. Fortunately, the woman was not injured by the gunfire.

Joliet police were initially called to the home after reports of a loud disturbance, and upon arrival, they were let inside by a 6-year-old child. They found Madia in a bedroom of the two-story home, where he was detained, and later located his girlfriend in another bedroom.

After an investigation, officers discovered a loaded gun in the bedroom and subsequently found over 800 grams of suspected cannabis, suspected LSD, commercial-grade fireworks, and ammunition in the home.

Authorities have not disclosed the relationship between the child, the suspect, and the victim. It is unclear how the child may have been involved in the incident.

Madia is currently in custody and will be facing the courts for the charges brought against him. This incident serves as a reminder of the prevalence of domestic violence and the potential danger it poses to victims and other occupants in the same household. Furthermore, the presence of illegal substances and firearms in the home highlights the need for vigilant law enforcement efforts to ensure public safety.
