GREENSBORO, N.C. — Following the tragic shooting death of an off-duty Greensboro police officer, three suspects have been apprehended within 24 hours of the incident. The officer has been identified as Sergeant Philip Dale Nix, who was fatally shot while off-duty at a Sheetz gas station after attempting to intervene in a crime, according to the Greensboro Police Department.
All three suspects have been taken into custody in connection with the officer’s death, with one of them facing charges of first-degree murder. Additionally, 28-year-old John Walter Morrison has been charged with Accessory after the fact to First Degree Murder, Larceny, and Conspiracy to Commit Larceny, and is being held without bond. The third suspect, 18-year-old Z’quriah Le’Pearce Blackwell, is charged with Accessory after the fact to First Degree Murder and is being held with a $500,000 bond.
