Man Stabbed While Washing Hands in Downtown Restroom, Police Say

The victim was attacked while washing his hands, police said.

SAN ANTONIO, Texas — San Antonio police are investigating after a man was stabbed several times Wednesday in a public restroom in the 100 block of Camaron Street.

The attack was reported just before 3 p.m. as a cutting in progress, according to police. Officers found that the 52-year-old victim had been washing his hands when a man stabbed him. Police said the attack appeared to have happened without a known dispute beforehand.

Authorities described the case as an apparent random attack, but they had not released a motive. The victim’s name was not made public. Police also had not said whether a weapon was recovered at the scene.

The stabbing drew officers to a downtown corridor used by commuters, office workers and visitors. The area around Camaron Street includes public spaces and nearby government buildings, making the afternoon attack a visible police response in the city center.

Investigators were working to identify the suspect and determine whether cameras in the area captured the incident. No arrest was reported in the first available information, and police had not announced pending charges.

The investigation remained active Thursday, with key details still unknown, including the suspect’s identity, the victim’s condition and what happened immediately after the stabbing.
