The early morning case unfolded outside a home in the Vistancia area.
PEORIA, Ariz. — Peoria police were investigating Monday after a person was shot and stabbed outside a home in the city’s Vistancia area, leaving one victim hospitalized and a suspect still outstanding.
The attack was reported about 5:30 a.m. June 1 near Ridgeline Road and Sunrise Point. Officers found the victim with injuries from both a shooting and a stabbing. Police said the victim was taken to a hospital, but the person’s condition was not immediately known.
Police said the suspect had left before officers arrived. Officials said early information suggests the people involved knew each other, but they did not release details about their relationship or what may have led to the violence.
The investigation brought a large police response to the north Peoria neighborhood. Detectives examined the street and area outside the home while working to collect evidence. Officials had not said how many shots were fired or how many stab wounds the victim suffered.
The Vistancia area sits in north Peoria, near Vistancia Boulevard and Ridgeline Road. The case follows standard police steps for a violent assault investigation, including witness interviews, evidence collection and a search for the person believed to be responsible.
No arrest had been reported by Monday morning. Police said the investigation is ongoing, and more information is expected after detectives confirm the suspect’s identity and the victim’s medical status.
