Horrific: Man Slashed and Beaten in Daylight Machete Attack in Melbourne’s West

Melbourne, Australia – A brutal attack took place in Melbourne’s west, leaving a 21-year-old man, Chol Yai, seriously injured. He was assaulted by a group of approximately four men, who used weapons such as a machete, knives, a hammer, and a baseball bat. The attack occurred in broad daylight, around 5pm on Sunday, as Yai was chased across Elpis Rd, Weir Views before being attacked in a garden outside a McDonald’s outlet.

CCTV footage from a nearby home captured the group chasing the young man, as well as the horrified reaction of neighbors. Spectators of the attack ran over to Yai to provide first aid after seeing him being attacked with weapons multiple times. Yai suffered injuries to his head, back, and arm, with his right arm being cut down to the bone.

The victim was rushed to the Royal Melbourne Hospital, where he underwent surgery on his arm and remains in a serious condition. Teresa Garang, the victim’s mother, expressed her stress and confusion, as Yai was simply out shopping for food when he was targeted in the violent attack.

Police are currently investigating the incident, but the victim has chosen not to cooperate. No arrests have been made at this time, and the perpetrators, who were seen traveling in a black sedan, have not been located.
