High School Student Shot and Killed in Arlington Parking Lot in Tragic Incident

Arlington, Texas – An 18-year-old high school student from James Bowie High School tragically lost his life following a shooting incident on Wednesday afternoon, resulting in a lockdown and a thorough investigation by the authorities.

Etavion Barnes was found unresponsive by school resource officers after reports of gunfire near a portable building on campus. Despite efforts to save him, Barnes succumbed to his injuries, as confirmed by the Arlington Police Department.

The alleged shooter, a 17-year-old who was found in close proximity to the high school, was swiftly taken into custody without any resistance by the police. He has been charged with one count of murder and is currently held at Arlington City Jail.

Authorities revealed that both the victim and the alleged shooter knew each other and attended the same school. Detectives are working to determine the motive behind the tragic incident, while also collaborating with the school district to ensure the safety and well-being of all students and staff affected.
