Greenwood Resident Charges with Felonies for Attack on Law Enforcement Officers Leaving Three Injured

Greenville, Pitt County — A violent encounter with law enforcement on Sunday evening has left three officers injured and a local man facing multiple charges. Robert Hobb Jr. was arrested after a series of violent actions involving law enforcement, including assaulting officers and discharging a taser.

The incident began with a disturbance call at an apartment off Copper Beech Drive, where Hobb Jr. allegedly assaulted a resident before fleeing the scene. As police arrived, another report came in stating that Hobb Jr. was attempting to sic his dog on a door dash delivery driver.

Officers eventually located Hobb Jr. outside his apartment, but the situation quickly turned violent. Hobb Jr. reportedly grabbed an officer’s throat and refused to let go, leading to the use of physical force and tasers to subdue him. Hobb Jr. then allegedly took a taser from one of the officers and discharged it multiple times, escalating the situation even further.

Following his arrest, Hobb Jr. was charged with several offenses, including felony assault, resisting arrest, and simple assault. He was given an $86,000 bond as he awaits further legal proceedings. Meanwhile, the three injured officers were transported to ECU Health Medical Center for treatment and are expected to recover from their injuries.

The incident underscores the dangers law enforcement officers face in the line of duty and the importance of handling potentially violent situations with caution. It also serves as a reminder of the need for support and resources to ensure the safety and well-being of those who serve and protect our communities.
