Chandler Explosion Survivor: Reopens Eyeglass Repair Shop After 2 Years

Chandler, Arizona – February 5, 2024 marked a significant day for an eyeglass repair shop in Chandler as it welcomed customers for the first time since a catastrophic blast occurred at a nearby print shop over two years ago. The explosion injured four people and severely damaged the surrounding buildings. Now, the general manager, Glenn Jordan, one of the blast survivors, is back at work, welcoming customers to the repaired store.

Recalling the harrowing experience, Jordan described being thrown back by the force of the blast and sustaining second and third-degree burns that covered 40% of his body. The road to recovery involved months of physical and occupational therapy, marked by small victories such as being able to feed himself and walk down a hallway.

The source of the explosion was later identified as an unintentional natural gas leak at a print shop a few suites down from the eyeglass repair shop, leaving a path of devastation in its wake.

The journey of healing and rebuilding culminated in the reopening of the eyeglass repair shop, marking a significant milestone for Jordan and the community. His resilience and determination have become an inspiration to those around him, as he looks forward to a future filled with smiles and optimism.

As the community continues to recover from the aftermath of the explosion, Jordan’s return to work represents a beacon of hope and a testament to the human spirit’s ability to overcome adversity.
