Charges Filed Against Earlville Man for Violent Attack and Home Invasion

SYCAMORE, Illinois – A man from Earlville, Illinois has been charged in a violent attack and home invasion, accused of choking and beating a woman during a drive, threatening to kill her, and breaking into her Shabbona home, according to court documents.

Steven S. Frangoules, 32, faces several charges including aggravated domestic battery causing strangulation, unlawful restraint, and home invasion, among others. If convicted of the most serious crime of home invasion, he could face up to 30 years in prison.

Frangoules appeared in court for his initial hearing where prosecutors argued for him to be held without release, citing the violent nature of his charges and past criminal history. The defense, on the other hand, pointed to lack of evidence in the case.

The incident occurred late at night after Frangoules and the woman were leaving a bar and grill in Sandwich. Frangoules attacked the woman multiple times during the drive and upon their arrival at a Shabbona apartment. The woman sustained visible injuries to various parts of her body.

The woman reported to the police that Frangoules became angry over her interactions with his friends, leading to a violent altercation during the drive. She attempted to flee multiple times, but Frangoules chased her and continued to attack her, causing fear for her life.

After managing to escape and seek help from a neighbor, the woman called 911. Frangoules allegedly made threats and destroyed her property before being apprehended by authorities.

The judge ordered Frangoules to remain in custody pending trial, expressing concerns over the potential for further violent acts. Further proceedings in the case are scheduled for a later date.
