Sloviansk, Ukraine — The Russian military has intensified its attacks on Sloviansk, a city in the Donetsk region, employing multiple rocket launchers that targeted civilian areas. The assaults resulted in casualties and significant damage to local infrastructure.
The Slavyansk City Military Administration reported that two major bombardments occurred around 10 a.m. on Monday, affecting neighborhoods including the Lisny district and Olimpiyska Street as well as a military facility associated with the 95th Brigade.
Damage assessments indicate that several high-rise buildings and private residences sustained destruction, along with a boiler room and numerous parked vehicles. Local officials confirmed that three civilians lost their lives in the attacks, with efforts ongoing to ascertain the number of injured individuals.
Emergency responders, police, and utility services are currently working at the impacted sites. Their focus includes containing the damage and conducting investigations into the attacks’ circumstances.
This recent escalation comes in the wake of earlier incidents on October 9, when Sloviansk and neighboring Kostyantynivka were similarly targeted, resulting in one death and 11 injuries. As the conflict continues, authorities have noted a concerning spike in damages to gas networks across the Donetsk region.
Local residents are coping with the aftermath of ongoing violence, as many are now living in compromised safety. The community remains on alert for further strikes, as the situation remains fluid and unpredictable. The bombardments serve as a grim reminder of the operational intensity that has characterized the region amidst the ongoing conflict.
As investigations proceed, local leaders are working diligently to ensure the safety and reassurances of their constituents, while also addressing the urgent need for infrastructural repairs to support the recovery of Sloviansk.
