Las Vegas, Nevada – A tragic incident occurred on Tuesday when a man was fatally shot in a seemingly random attack at an apartment complex in the southwest valley. The victim was working with his brother in a cleaning business when the assailant approached their white van and opened fire.
The Las Vegas police were called to the Venicia Apartments in the 3600 block of South Fort Apache Road, where they discovered the victim next to the van near the entrance to the complex. Despite their efforts to save the wounded man, he succumbed to his injuries at University Medical Center, according to Metropolitan Police Department Lt. Jason Johansson.
Witnesses at the scene provided descriptions of the suspect, who was identified as a woman, fleeing from the complex’s front entrance. The suspect, who had facial tattoos and was carrying multiple bags, had been inside the complex without residing there. Prior to the shooting, the suspect was seen checking car doors, indicating a potential intent to commit burglary.
The victim, who was in the white van with his brother conducting a carpet cleaning estimate, had no prior interaction with the suspect. The shooting was described as a “completely random” act of violence, with the victim being an innocent and hardworking individual simply doing his job.
The suspect, a woman in her twenties with a criminal record, was apprehended by patrol officers in a nearby neighborhood shortly after the incident. In the midst of the tragedy, the victim’s brother expressed deep sorrow and disbelief, highlighting the devastating impact on their family.
The name of the cleaning business, Immaculate Restoration and Carpet Care, was visibly displayed on the side of the white van. The victim’s brother, grappling with the loss, shared their family’s origins and the heartbreaking task of informing their mother of the tragic event.
