AMBER Alert: 1-Year-Old Abducted in West Richland by Suspect in Double Homicide

West Richland, Washington – A man suspected of committing a double homicide, including one outside a West Richland elementary school, remains at large. Law enforcement agencies have issued an AMBER Alert for the man and his 1-year-old child, whom he is believed to have abducted.

The incident began on April 22, around 3:20 p.m., when a shooting occurred outside Wiley Elementary School in West Richland, prompting the school to go into lockdown. While no students were harmed, a woman was tragically pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities have determined that the shooting was targeted, with the suspect having a prior relationship with the victim. During a search of the suspect’s residence, another deceased individual was discovered inside, identified as his ex-wife or girlfriend.

The suspect, identified as 40-year-old Elias Huizar, is now the subject of a manhunt. Standing at 5’6″ and weighing approximately 170 pounds, Huizar was last seen driving a 2009 silver Toyota Corolla with Washington license plates CBZ4745.

An AMBER Alert has also been issued for Huizar’s 1-year-old son, Roman Huizar, described as 2 feet tall, weighing 25 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. Authorities suspect that Elias may be attempting to flee to Mexico with the child.

Huizar’s background as a former Yakima Police officer adds a concerning element to the situation. Recent reports indicate that he had previously faced child rape charges and was in the midst of a custody battle with his ex-wife.

Law enforcement officials emphasize that Huizar should be considered armed and dangerous, with a propensity for violence. They urge anyone who spots him to immediately contact 911 and reference the ongoing West Richland homicide case.

As the investigation unfolds, the community remains on high alert, with authorities working tirelessly to locate Huizar and ensure the safety of his abducted child. Updates will be provided as new information becomes available.
