Wedding Day Massacre: Groom Kills Wife, Her Family and Himself

BANGKOK, THAILAND – In a shocking turn of events, a groom in northeast Thailand gunned down his bride, her mother, her sister, and a guest at their wedding reception before ending his own life. The tragic incident also left another guest seriously wounded.

Chaturong Suksuk, 29, and Kanchana Pachunthuek, 44, tied the knot in a traditional morning ceremony on Saturday. As the celebrations extended into the evening, guests noted that Suksuk seemed unhappy.

Suksuk, heavily inebriated according to police, abruptly exited the party, only to return with a pistol from his car. He then fired at his newlywed wife, her mother, Kingthong Klajoho, 62, and her sister Kornnipa Manato, 38. A stray bullet fatally wounded a 50-year-old guest, Thong Nonkhunthod, while another guest, Bamrung Chatherat, 28, was seriously injured.

Suksuk, a former marine soldier who had lost a leg in a train accident while on duty, was a decorated athlete. He won a silver medal at the 11th Asian Para Games in Indonesia last year and is slated to compete in the World Abilitysport Games 2023 next month.

The couple had been cohabiting for three years before their wedding. The motive behind the shooting is still under investigation, with police considering a reported dispute between the couple on their wedding day.
