Violent Disorder: Teen Facing Custody for Breaking Bail Terms in Dublin Restaurant Deaths Case

Dublin, Ireland – A 17-year-old boy, who cannot be named due to his status as a minor, is facing serious consequences for repeatedly violating his bail conditions in connection to a violent incident at Browne’s Steakhouse in Blanchardstown on Christmas Eve. The incident resulted in the deaths of Tristan Sherry, 26, and Jason Hennessy Sr, 48, who passed away 11 days later after being shot.

In January, GardaĆ charged the teenager with engaging in violent disorder at the restaurant by using or threatening violence with three others, causing fear among those present. The case was brought to the Dublin Children’s Court for a second hearing following a six-week adjournment. The Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) is considering additional charges in the case, making it a complex legal situation for the minor.

During the court proceedings, concerns were raised about the teenager’s repeated bail violations, although no formal bail revocation application was made. Defense barrister Doireann McDonagh emphasized that the boy had no prior criminal record or experience with the legal system, suggesting a warning instead of tightened conditions. Judge William Aylmer cautioned the teenager about the consequences of not complying with his bail terms, as the case was adjourned for a further six weeks.

The teenager is one of seven individuals facing charges in connection to the violent incident at the steakhouse. The court also heard about other defendants involved in the case, including David Amah, Michael Andrecut, Wayne Deegan, Jonas Kabangu, and Brandon Hennessy. The complexity of the legal proceedings underscores the seriousness of the charges and the impact on all those involved in the tragic events.

The teenager’s family accompanied him to court, highlighting the emotional toll that such legal proceedings can have on loved ones. As the case unfolds, it remains to be seen how the justice system will address the alleged actions of the defendants and provide closure for the families of the victims. The legal process is expected to continue as authorities seek to bring justice to those affected by the events at Browne’s Steakhouse on that fateful Christmas Eve.
