New City, New York – Our homes are more than just physical locations; they are our sanctuaries, where we find comfort and peace. However, when violence disrupts this sense of security, the impact can be particularly jarring, as witnessed in a recent incident in New City, Rockland County.
On the night of April 11, 2024, Ramapo Police Officers responded to a violent altercation on Trailside Place. According to the Rockland County District Attorney’s Office, an unknown man attacked a resident in their driveway, stabbing them multiple times in the head, neck, and body. The victim, whose identity remains undisclosed, was rushed to the hospital in serious condition.
Within 48 hours, law enforcement successfully apprehended the suspect, 23-year-old Elijah Dean from Orange County. Dean faced multiple charges, including attempted murder and assault, during his arraignment in Rockland County Court on May 3, 2024, before Judge Anne Bianchi.
Various agencies, such as the Town of Ramapo Police Department and the Rockland County Sheriff’s Office, played crucial roles in investigating and handling the case. District Attorney Tom Walsh condemned the violent act, emphasizing zero tolerance for such behavior in Rockland County.
