Violence Erupts: YSR Congress Leaders Accuse TDP and Nandamuri Balakrishna of Orchestrating Attack on Party Office

HINDUPUR, India — Tensions escalated in Hindupur following an alleged attack on the YSR Congress Party office, which party leaders claim was orchestrated by supporters of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP). The YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) has accused TDP members of vandalism and aggression, alleging that the incident was instigated by local MLA Nandamuri Balakrishna.

At a press conference held at the YSRCP central office, party officials, including Sri Sathya Sai district president Usha Sri Charan and constituency in-charge Deepika, expressed their outrage. They pointed out that Balakrishna was in the vicinity during the incident yet failed to condemn the violence, suggesting that his silence implied endorsement of the attack.

Party leaders reported that a group of approximately 70 individuals, traveling in multiple vehicles, descended on the YSRCP office, where they engaged in acts of vandalism. They reportedly destroyed portraits of prominent historical figures, including Kanakadasa and Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, and damaged a statue of former Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy.

Despite the presence of law enforcement, the alleged attackers faced no immediate consequences, raising concerns about the efficacy of police intervention. Usha Sri Charan voiced discontent over the police response, claiming that rather than pursuing those responsible, authorities filed charges against members of the YSRCP. She noted that accusations included SC/ST Atrocity cases against her colleague Deepika’s husband, Venu Reddy, who was purportedly not at the scene.

“There is clear evidence captured on CCTV, yet the police chose to target the victims instead of the aggressors,” Usha stated. She accused the state government of attempting to silence dissenting voices amid escalating political strife.

Deepika echoed similar sentiments, stressing that accountability rests with Balakrishna and emphasizing the seriousness of the attack. “The lack of response from TDP leadership shows a troubling disregard for the rule of law and democratic principles,” she remarked.

The confrontation highlights ongoing political tensions in the region, as party leaders call for the withdrawal of what they deem to be false charges against their members. They are also demanding justice for their supporters while seeking clarity on the police’s actions during the incident.

The situation reflects broader concerns about the state of political discourse and safety in Indian politics, where allegations of violence and intimidation have become increasingly prevalent. As the political landscape continues to shift, the YSR Congress Party remains steadfast in its demand for accountability and justice for its members.
