Trial for Accused Killer in New Jersey Teen’s Death Starts Wednesday

Middle Smithfield Township, Pennsylvania – A bench trial is scheduled to commence on Wednesday for Tyrone Parson, a 22-year-old from Stroudsburg, accused of fatally shooting 19-year-old Jaheem Keith Alston from Paterson, New Jersey, during an alleged drug deal gone wrong in October 2021.

Parson allegedly committed the crime, with Kellie Nelson from East Stroudsburg being accused as the getaway driver. Nelson is set to appear in court on June 28. Parson is being represented by attorney Brian Perry, known for his involvement in overturning comedian Bill Cosby’s sexual assault conviction on appeal in 2021.

The trial will be conducted without a jury, as Judge Margherita Worthington will be the one deciding the facts of the case. Despite multiple attempts to reach out for comments, neither the Monroe County DA’s Office nor Perry have responded as of Tuesday morning.

This incident has shocked the local community and raised concerns about drug-related violence. The trial will shed light on the events leading up to Alston’s tragic death and provide a clearer picture of the circumstances surrounding the alleged crime.

With tensions running high in the area following the incident, the trial will be closely monitored by residents and legal experts alike. The outcome of the trial could have significant implications for both Parson and Nelson, as well as for the broader issue of drug-related violence in the region.

As the trial unfolds, the public will be looking for answers and seeking justice for the victim. The courtroom proceedings will provide a platform for both sides to present their arguments and evidence, with the hopes of reaching a fair and just outcome in this tragic case.
