Tragic Shooting Incident in Blawnox Leaves One Dead and Another in Critical Condition

BLAWNOX, Pa. — Tragedy struck a peaceful neighborhood in Blawnox, Pennsylvania, as a shooting at Tri-Arc Manufacturing warehouse resulted in the death of one woman and left a man in critical condition. The incident unfolded around 6:30 a.m. on Tuesday when authorities responded to reports of an active shooter at the warehouse located in the 300 block of Fountain Street.

Dozens of law enforcement officers from various departments swiftly arrived at the scene to confront the ongoing threat. Upon entering the warehouse, officers were met by workers who alerted them to the presence of the shooter. Despite the dangerous situation, law enforcement managed to apprehend the suspect, later identified as 42-year-old Sean Black from Allegheny Township in Westmoreland County, without further incident.

Inside the building, authorities discovered two victims – a woman and a man. Tragically, 30-year-old Courtney Smith was pronounced dead at the scene, while 26-year-old Daniel Zoelle was rushed to the hospital in critical condition. Investigations suggest that the incident was of a domestic nature, with Smith being identified as Black’s estranged girlfriend. The trio, including Black and Zoelle, were all employees at Tri-Arc Manufacturing.

Following the heartbreaking events, Jeff Eller, a spokesperson for Tri-Arc, announced the temporary closure of the plant. Expressing cooperation with law enforcement, Eller emphasized the need for further investigation before resuming operations. Charges, including homicide, attempted homicide, aggravated assault, and recklessly endangering another person, have been levied against Black, who is currently held at the Allegheny County Jail pending preliminary arraignment.
