DUNDALK, Ireland — A tragic car accident late Saturday night claimed the lives of five young adults, all in their twenties, on the Ardee Road in a community grappling with grief. The collision, involving a Volkswagen Golf and a Toyota Land Cruiser, occurred shortly after 9 p.m. in the townland of Gibstown, which lies on the outskirts of Dundalk.
The deceased were identified as Chloe McGee, 23; Shay Duffy, 21; Alan McCluskey, 23; Dylan Commins, 23, all from nearby areas, alongside Chloe Hipson, 21, who hailed from Scotland. They were traveling in the Golf, reportedly en route to a night out in Dundalk when the crash occurred. A sixth occupant of their vehicle, also in his twenties, sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries and is currently receiving medical care.
There were two additional injuries resulting from the incident: a male and female in the Toyota Land Cruiser, both hospitalized with injuries that are not life-threatening.
