Police said no arrests had been made after the Sunday morning shooting.
MIRAMAR, Fla. — Three people were hospitalized Sunday after someone shot at their car on Sunshine Boulevard and the vehicle crashed nearby, Miramar police said.
Officers went to the area of 2700 Sunshine Boulevard after reports of a shooting. Police said two men and one woman were inside a car traveling west when gunfire hit the vehicle. Fire rescue crews took all three to a hospital. Their conditions were not immediately released.
The car crashed near the 2600 block of Sunshine Boulevard after the shots were fired, police said. Investigators had not announced any arrests, and police did not immediately release the victims’ names, the type of vehicle involved or a description of any suspected shooter.
Miramar Police Chief Delrish Moss said the scene was chaotic for residents waking up Sunday. “This is no way to wake up on a Sunday morning,” Moss said. He said hearing multiple shots overnight or in the early morning was disturbing.
Moss said investigators did not believe the broader neighborhood remained in danger. He said police believed the car was targeted, though the reason was still unclear. Detectives were working to determine who opened fire and what led to the shooting.
The investigation remained active Sunday, with no arrests announced and the victims’ conditions still unknown.
