Tennessee Teen Brutally Attacked over $20 Bet, Attackers Avoid Jail Time

Wayne County, Tennessee – Two young men pleaded not guilty to a brutal attack on a Tennessee teen over a $20 bet, avoiding jail time. Kelsey Moore, the victim of the attack, was left hospitalized by his classmates following the altercation. The Moore family remains deeply troubled by the incident, expressing disappointment in what they perceive as lenient sentencing for the defendants.

After undergoing multiple surgeries and experiencing life-altering injuries, Kelsey Moore and his mother testified in court, recounting the harrowing experience. The violent attack, which took place on April 17, 2022, was captured on video and shared on social media platform TikTok.

Prosecutors disclosed that the attack was instigated by a $20 bet made by Brandison Dru Daniel, who allegedly paid Cameron Lane Makara to assault Kelsey. The repercussions of the assault left Kelsey with a broken neck, requiring four titanium plates in his head, and resulting in permanent vision and hearing impairments.

Despite facing years of probation, without the possibility of diversion, Daniel and Makara’s sentences do not fully compensate for the lasting trauma endured by the Moore family. Kelsey, determined to continue recovering mentally and physically, remains hopeful about rebuilding his life after the tragic incident.

The Moore family continues to grapple with the emotional aftermath of the attack, emphasizing the need for justice and accountability in light of the severe impact on Kelsey’s well-being. As they navigate the long road to healing, Kelsey’s resilience and determination to overcome the ordeal offer a glimpse of hope for a brighter future ahead.
