Shooting Suspect Arrested in Columbus Murder Case After West Side Incident

Columbus, Ohio – Columbus police have apprehended a suspect in connection with a fatal shooting on the city’s West Side. The incident, which occurred late Sunday night, resulted in the death of one individual and left another injured.

The suspect, identified as 18-year-old Mekhi Miller, is facing charges related to the shooting that claimed the life of 28-year-old John Wilks and wounded another individual. According to authorities, the shooting took place around 10 p.m. in the 700 block of South Ogden Avenue.

Upon responding to reports of the shooting, officers discovered Wilks unresponsive with a gunshot wound. Despite medics’ efforts, Wilks was pronounced dead at the scene. A second adult victim was also found nearby, suffering from a gunshot wound and subsequently taken to a local hospital for treatment.

Witnesses at the scene identified Miller as the perpetrator of the shooting. Following a search in the neighborhood, police located and arrested Miller in connection with the incident. Authorities later revealed that the shooting stemmed from a dispute between Miller and the victims.
