TUCSON, Ariz. — A 34-year-old man was fatally shot in a violent confrontation that unfolded at a residence in Tucson before he sought refuge in a nearby restaurant, where the suspect allegedly fired again, leading to the man’s death, police reported.
Casey Sheehan Kneisel suffered fatal injuries during the incident, which also left a woman wounded at the home located in the 2200 block of West Ironwood Hill Drive. The exact condition of the female victim remains unclear, and officials have not disclosed her identity.
Authorities have arrested 35-year-old Philip Michael Chambers Jr., who is facing serious charges, including first-degree murder, two counts of aggravated assault with domestic violence, and misconduct involving weapons as a prohibited possessor. Police apprehended Chambers following a search of the surrounding area.
The Tucson Police Department described the sequence of events in a statement. Emergency services responded to multiple reports of gunfire shortly after 11 p.m. on Monday. Although the statement did not specify which restaurant was involved, police tape was observed around a McDonald’s located on West Ironwood Hill Drive, just west of Silverbell.
Upon arriving at the home, officers discovered the injured woman, who was subsequently transported to a local hospital for treatment. Kneisel was found at the restaurant, where he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators stated that a confrontation had transpired between Chambers, Kneisel, and the injured woman prior to the shooting at the residence, followed by additional gunfire inside the restaurant.
