DEERFIELD BEACH, Fla. — A 32-year-old man has been taken into custody following a fatal shooting that occurred on Sunday morning. Authorities from the Broward Sheriff’s Office reported that the incident resulted in the death of a 33-year-old man, identified as Leotis James Breedlove Jr.
Deputies responded to emergency calls around 10:30 a.m. following reports of gunfire in the vicinity of the 200 block of Northwest Second Way. Upon arrival, they discovered Breedlove outside a residence with multiple gunshot wounds. Paramedics quickly transported him to Broward Health North, where he was pronounced dead shortly after.
Police investigators indicated that the shooter fled the scene immediately after the gunfire erupted. As part of their investigation, deputies issued a Be on the Lookout alert for a black Honda Civic, which led to the subsequent detention of a suspect beside the vehicle.
Through their investigative efforts, detectives later located Jarvis Chinn, the suspect, in Pompano Beach, near the 200 block of Northwest 30th Avenue. He was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Broward County Main Jail.
Chinn, who shares an address with the victim, faces serious charges, including first-degree murder with a firearm. Authorities are continuing their investigation to determine the motives behind the shooting and any additional circumstances leading up to the incident.
