Shooting at Doral Bar Leaves 2 Dead, 7 Injured: Police Take Down Gunman

Doral, Florida – Two people lost their lives, and seven individuals sustained injuries following a tragic shooting incident at a bar located near downtown Miami in the early hours of Saturday morning. Reports indicate that the violent altercation took place at the Martini Bar within the CityPlace center in Doral, prompting a response from the Miami-Dade Police Department around 3:30 a.m.

During a press conference held by authorities, it was revealed that a security guard tried to de-escalate the situation but was unfortunately shot and killed by the suspect. In response, a police officer also shot and killed the suspect. The exchange of gunfire resulted in injuries to another officer, who was wounded in the lower extremity, along with five men and one woman.

According to Miami-Dade Police Detective Alvaro Zabaleta, two of the injured individuals were in critical condition and were transported to trauma centers, while the remaining four were reported to be in stable condition. The authorities are currently working diligently to determine the underlying cause of the violent altercation.

Chief City of Doral Police Department Edwin Lopez commended the swift response of officers from various agencies, including the Sweetwater Police Department and the Miami-Dade Police Department, in securing the scene and preventing further escalation. Lopez also acknowledged the injured officer’s quick thinking in applying a tourniquet to themselves after being struck by gunfire.

As investigators continue to gather information and piece together the events of that fateful morning, the City of Doral, along with the greater Miami area, mourns the lives lost and prays for the swift recovery of those injured in this senseless act of violence.
