Akron, Ohio – City officials are urging individuals to come forward with any information regarding a tragic shooting incident that left more than two dozen people injured in Akron, Ohio on Sunday morning. According to reports, a 27-year-old man lost his life while 24 others sustained gunshot wounds during what authorities described as a large birthday party.
Responding to multiple 911 calls reporting shots fired, police arrived at the scene in the vicinity of Kelly Ave. and 8th Ave. in Akron shortly after midnight. Akron Police Chief Brian Harding disclosed that the shooting occurred during a massive birthday gathering that initially had over 200 attendees earlier that night.
In the aftermath of the shooting, the area was found to be cluttered with spent shell casings, extending down a whole block, indicating a drive-by shooting incident. It is believed that individuals at the party may have retaliated based on physical evidence at the scene. Authorities recovered at least two handguns along with various shell casings from different firearms.
Despite intense investigations, authorities have yet to identify the shooter or the vehicle involved in the incident.
