Shooting at Arlington Convenience Store: Teen Arrested After Fatal Attack Leaves Two Dead and One Wounded

Arlington, Texas — A 17-year-old has been taken into custody following a shooting at a convenience store that resulted in two fatalities and one injury late Saturday night. The Arlington Police Department identified the suspect as Saman Islam, who faces charges of capital murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

Police were dispatched to a QuikTrip, located on South Cooper Street, shortly after 10 p.m. responding to reports of gunfire. Upon arrival, officers discovered two men, aged 19 and 20, suffering from gunshot wounds in the parking lot. Emergency services transported both victims to a local hospital, where they were pronounced dead shortly after arrival. The identities of the deceased are yet to be released by officials.

A third victim, also a 19-year-old man, sustained a gunshot wound to the foot. Fortunately, he received prompt medical attention and has since been treated and released from the hospital.

Witnesses indicated that the violence erupted from a physical altercation involving two groups near the gas pumps at the store. During the confrontation, Islam reportedly retrieved a firearm from his vehicle and began firing indiscriminately, striking the victims. Investigators believe this altercation escalated quickly but have not yet determined its cause.

Islam remained at the scene when police arrived and was taken into custody along with several others who were present. He is currently being held at the Arlington city jail as the investigation continues.

The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office is expected to release the names of the victims in the coming days. Meanwhile, authorities are urging anyone with additional information regarding the incident to come forward.
