Shooting: 14-Year-Old Girl Killed, 5 Teens Wounded in Buffalo Tragedy

Buffalo, New York – A tragic shooting incident took the life of a 14-year-old girl and left five teenage boys injured in Buffalo. The Buffalo Police Department responded to reports of gunfire near Alexander Place late Saturday night, where they found all six victims wounded in a parking lot ranging in age from 14 to 16.

The young girl was rushed to Oishei Children’s Hospital but was pronounced dead shortly after arrival. Additionally, a 15-year-old boy was listed in critical condition at Erie County Medical Center, while two 15-year-old boys and a 16-year-old boy were hospitalized in stable condition. Another 16-year-old boy was grazed by a bullet but declined medical treatment.

Authorities revealed that the shooting occurred just blocks away from where a white supremacist carried out a racially motivated attack in 2022, highlighting the ongoing issue of gun violence in the community. Mayor Byron Brown expressed his condolences to the families affected by the tragedy during a news conference, emphasizing the need for unity and support.

Hundreds of teens were present in the area for a large house party when the shooting took place. According to Police Chief of Detectives Craig Macy, an earlier fight at the party is believed to have sparked the violent incident less than an hour later. Witnesses described the harrowing sound of gunshots ringing out in the neighborhood, prompting fear and concern among residents.

Despite the area not being a known trouble spot for law enforcement, Mayor Byron Brown assured the public that additional police patrols would be deployed to address the situation. Brown sent a direct message to the perpetrators, urging them to surrender to authorities and face the consequences of their actions. The senseless tragedy has deeply impacted the community, sparking calls for justice and peace in the wake of such a devastating loss.
