Security Guard Murder: Suspect Charged with Killing Former Officer

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, OHIO – A man previously under suspicion in the killing of a former officer working as a security guard has been charged with murder. Sha’King Jones, 25, faces charges of murder, felonious assault, and having weapons under disability, according to court documents. The charges stem from the shooting death of Darnell Pate, who was killed in his vehicle after leaving work at a nightclub in Jefferson Township last month.

Sheriff Rob Streck revealed that the incident was planned, with individuals waiting for Mr. Pate to leave his place of employment. Jones was identified as a person of interest in the case and was taken into custody on Valentine’s Day, being led from the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office to the Montgomery County Jail.

Streck mentioned that prosecutors were waiting for additional evidence to charge Jones, including testing a gun found during a search of his home.

The sheriff described Pate’s death as a targeted killing and emphasized the deliberate nature of the crime. Jones is currently being held at the Montgomery County Jail on a $750,000 bond.

As the investigation continues, it is imperative to keep the public informed and provide updates as more information becomes available.
