Road Rage Shooting Victim’s Family Files Wrongful Death Claim

Tucson, Arizona – The family of a man who was fatally shot in a road rage incident in Tucson has filed a wrongful death claim against the alleged shooter and his wife, indicating a legal battle ahead.

Dr. Jeffrey Honer, 47, was tragically killed by Jason Jameson, 41, on March 15 following a traffic altercation on the far northeast side of Tucson. The Pima County Sheriff’s Department confirmed that Honer was unarmed during the incident, and Jameson claimed he acted in self-defense.

Jameson was promptly arrested and now faces a second-degree murder charge, but has been released on bond. The victim’s widow, Alyssa Honer, has sought legal representation from attorney Carlo Mercaldo to file the wrongful death claim against Jameson and his wife, Ekaterina Jameson.

The claim argues that it was Jameson who initiated the altercation, attacking Dr. Honer without provocation. Mercaldo stated that Honer was not a threat and was actually trying to retreat when he was fatally shot by Jameson.

In response to the claim, Jameson has a limited time frame to provide a response, as per court records. Meanwhile, a preliminary hearing for the criminal case has been scheduled for the upcoming week.

According to Mercaldo, on the day of the incident, Honer was moving between patient visits with two nurses in separate vehicles. As they crossed paths with Jameson, his aggressive behavior led to a confrontation that ended in tragedy. The claim alleges that Jameson physically assaulted Honer before fatally shooting him while he was attempting to walk away to safety, leaving behind a grieving wife and a promising future cut short.

The family’s claim places emphasis on Jameson’s alleged negligence and wrongful actions, holding him accountable for the untimely death of Dr. Honer. Mercaldo criticized Jameson’s actions as unreasonable and reckless, highlighting the devastating impact on Honer’s loved ones.

As legal proceedings unfold, the family seeks justice for the senseless loss of Dr. Honer, hoping to hold those responsible accountable for their actions in a court of law.
