Oakland Police Officer Killed While Responding to Marijuana Dispensary Burglary

OAKLAND, California – In a tragic turn of events, a police officer in Oakland, California, lost his life while responding to a burglary at a local marijuana dispensary. Tuan Le, 36, was one of the officers who arrived at the scene after a report of a burglary in progress at the cannabis business near Jack London Square. This incident occurred in the early hours of the morning, coming just 3 1/2 hours after an earlier burglary was reported at the same business.

Upon arrival, uniformed and plainclothes officers observed several individuals leaving the scene. Tragically, one of them opened fire multiple times, ultimately hitting Officer Le, who was driving an unmarked car and in plainclothes at the time. Despite the efforts of his fellow officers to rush him to the hospital, Officer Le tragically succumbed to his injuries about four hours after the shooting.

The loss of Officer Le has deeply affected the Oakland community. He was known for his kindness, smile, and dedication to making the community safer during his time as a police officer. The mayor of Oakland, Sheng Thao, described the killing as a senseless act of violence, echoing the sentiments of many in the community.
