Neighbor who killed Ajike ‘AJ’ Owens to appear in court for pre-trial hearing

Ocala, Florida – A somber anniversary is observed today as family, friends, and loved ones come together at Immerse Church in Ocala to honor the memory of Ajike ‘AJ’ Owens, tragically taken away a year ago by her neighbor, Susan Lorincz. The community gathers to remember Owens, who was fatally shot through her front door by Lorincz in June of last year.

During the memorial service, Owens’ mother, Pamela Dias, expressed the pain and emptiness felt by the family after losing their loved one. Owens’ children paid tribute to their mother through poems, spiritual dances, and releasing white and purple balloons into the sky in her memory.

Following the tragic event, Owens’ family rallied on a national day of protest to demand justice for Lorincz, who faces charges of manslaughter and assault in connection to Owens’ death. Dias hopes for prosecution and eventual remorse from Lorincz for taking the life of her innocent daughter.

Now, Susan Lorincz sits in Marion County jail awaiting a pre-trial hearing scheduled for Wednesday. The community continues to seek closure and justice for the untimely loss of Ajike ‘AJ’ Owens.

As the community reflects on the past year without Owens, they find solace in coming together to remember her life and the impact she had on those around her. The commemoration serves as a reminder of the importance of honoring the memories of those lost and seeking accountability for their untimely deaths.

Despite the pain and heartache felt by all those who knew and loved Owens, they stand united in their quest for justice, hoping that Lorincz will be held accountable for her actions and that Owens’ memory will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew her best.
