Akola, India — A troubling case of murder has emerged from the small town of Akola, where the death of a local youth has exposed deep-rooted enmity among acquaintances. Akshay Nagalkar, who went missing recently, was reportedly invited to dinner only to become the victim of a brutal attack orchestrated by former friends over unresolved grievances.
Authorities have confirmed that four individuals have been arrested in connection with the crime, which appears to be premeditated. Investigators believe that Nagalkar was lured to a local hotel under the false pretense of reconciliation. Once he arrived, the assailants ambushed him, using chili powder to blind him before attacking with sharp weapons, killing him on the scene.
Following the murder, the suspects devised an elaborate plan to destroy evidence by burning Nagalkar’s body in a tin shed located on a nearby farm. In their efforts to cover up the crime, they even washed the area and painted it to hide any signs of their actions.
In response to the brutal nature of the crime, Superintendent of Police Archit Chandak mobilized multiple teams to investigate the case comprehensively. Over the span of 48 hours, the coordinated operation included personnel from various police divisions, utilizing advanced surveillance techniques and local intelligence to make crucial arrests.
The arrests captured the attention of the community, as the alleged mastermind, Chandrakant Mahadev Borkar, has a history of criminal activities, including prior involvement in a prominent scandal nearly two decades ago. He is known for his pattern of committing serious crimes and later surrendering to law enforcement.
In addition to Borkar, three others — Ashok Bhakare, Krishna Bhakare, and Ashish Wankhade — have been taken into custody. Investigators are actively searching for four more suspects who remain at large. Authorities believe these individuals were instrumental in executing the crime and are continuing efforts to locate them.
Sub-Divisional Police Officer Sudarshan Patil spoke at a press conference, highlighting the rapid response of the police and praising the teamwork that led to the swift resolution of the case. He confirmed that charges, including murder and conspiracy, have been filed against the arrested individuals.
