Sheriff Chris Davis fought back tears during a press conference, urging the public to keep the affected families in their thoughts.
The explosion at Accurate Energetic Systems resulted in the confirmed deaths of 16 individuals. Initially, it was believed that 19 people were unaccounted for, but authorities later clarified that three individuals expected to be on-site were indeed safe and away from the facility when the blast occurred.
Emergency responders have been tirelessly working at the scene, focusing on determining how many people were present during the tragedy. Sheriff Davis described the destruction as overwhelming, stating the building was completely obliterated. “It’s the most devastating scene that I’ve seen in my career,” he remarked.
Several individuals sustained injuries in the explosion; four or five were transported to nearby hospitals for treatment. Emergency crews have secured the site as investigations continue. Davis expressed his deep concern for the victims, emphasizing that they are more than just names or numbers; they are cherished members of the community.

One local, Erick Hughes, described the moment: “It was a massive boom, like a two-part explosion that rattled our windows.” Another neighbor, David Flowers, noted the shockwave was more intense than typical controlled detonations they occasionally hear.
In light of the tragedy, local blood centers are mobilizing to help, urging community members to donate blood. Administrators stressed that donations would be vital to assisting injured individuals.
