Liberty County, Texas — Authorities are actively pursuing a suspect involved in a tragic shooting incident that resulted in two fatalities and left four others injured at a local sports bar. The Liberty County Sheriff’s Office has identified the suspect as 32-year-old Jose Osman Aguilar Cantillano, who is believed to have fled the scene following the attack.
The shooting occurred at Alas Locos bar shortly after 2:30 a.m. on a Sunday, when Cantillano reportedly returned to the establishment after an initial visit around midnight. Witnesses described a scene of chaos as the suspect opened fire with a handgun on patrons gathered in the outdoor patio area. Immediate reports indicated that six individuals sustained gunshot wounds, with two later succumbing to their injuries.
Among the deceased was 30-year-old Alexis Jasso, who was pronounced dead at the scene, while 43-year-old Francisco Navarrete passed away shortly after being transported to a hospital for treatment. Four other victims, whose conditions have not been disclosed, were hospitalized with various injuries stemming from the gunfire.
Law enforcement conducted a search of Cantillano’s residence the following day but were unable to locate him. During that search, however, they arrested his wife, 23-year-old Alejandra Marie Valdez Montoya. Officials have charged her with tampering with evidence, suggesting that she may have interfered with the investigation. Montoya is currently held at the Liberty County Jail.
The investigation continues as authorities believe Cantillano may still be driving the white van he used to escape the bar, possibly making his way toward cities like New Orleans or Atlanta. The Liberty County Sheriff’s Office is urging anyone with information regarding his whereabouts to come forward.
Local residents are shaken by the violence that erupted during what was meant to be a peaceful gathering. Community leaders are calling for increased vigilance and unity in the face of such incidents, and are encouraging open dialogue on issues surrounding public safety.
