Murder Suspect Found with Self-Inflicted Gunshot Wound in Mauldin, SC

MAULDIN, S.C. – Authorities in Mauldin, South Carolina reported that a tragic incident unfolded at the Arbors at Brookfield Apartments, resulting in a double homicide. On Saturday evening, Mauldin Police responded to a call about shots fired and discovered the bodies of two women at the scene. One woman was found inside a vehicle, while the other was located lying beside the vehicle. The suspected perpetrator was not present upon the authorities’ arrival.

The victims were later identified as Kim Melissa Thrift and Mariellen Bessent Minor, both residents of Greenville. It was revealed that Mariellen and the suspect, Christopher Minor, were husband and wife, while Thrift was a family friend. Authorities were able to secure arrest warrants for Christopher Minor on charges of murder and unlawful possession of a firearm in connection with the violent acts.

Chief George Miller of the Mauldin Police Department confirmed that Christopher and Mariellen were parents to two children, who were reportedly on the scene during the tragic incident. Although it remains uncertain whether the children witnessed the shooting, a family member was summoned to provide support. Miller disclosed that Christopher’s vehicle was discovered abandoned at Bakers Creek State Park in McCormick County before authorities located him by a lake with a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
