Tiffin, Ohio — A tragic incident in this quiet town has left four people dead in what authorities are describing as an apparent murder-suicide. The shocking event unfolded Wednesday evening, stirring deep concern among the local community.
The Tiffin Police Department responded to reports of gunfire at a residence on Huss Street at around 6:30 p.m. Upon arrival, officers discovered a man and two children, ages seven months and seven years, with gunshot wounds inside the home. Outside the residence, they found another man, identified as 42-year-old Ryan Eagon, who had also suffered a gunshot wound.
A woman, physically unharmed but emotionally distressed, was located inside the house. She was described by law enforcement as being overwhelmed with shock following the tragic events. The police stated that this woman was in the process of removing belongings from the home due to ongoing domestic issues.
According to investigators, the woman was receiving help from 29-year-old Dustin Willey, the father of her eldest child, while her husband, Eagon, was reportedly away for work. While the two adults were inside, the children were outside when they heard the oldest child scream. They then emerged to find Eagon in the driveway.
Eagon allegedly pursued Willey, firing several shots in the process. Tragically, he shot and killed the two children before turning the gun on himself. Both Willey and the seven-year-old were later taken to local hospitals, where they succumbed to their injuries. The youngest child and Eagon were pronounced dead at the scene.
Tiffin Police Chief David Pauly expressed the community’s shock over the incident. He urged residents to keep the families involved in their thoughts as they navigate this devastating loss. Local officials, including Mayor Lee Wilkinson, have expressed their condolences and noted that the tragedy has profoundly impacted the town.
Law enforcement has chosen not to disclose the name of the children’s mother, asking for respecting her privacy during this challenging time. As the community grapples with the aftermath, police have promised to provide further updates on the investigation as more information becomes available.
